ninety percent of my mind is with you

This will be my last post as featuring artist.

I wanted to show you the progress on my wall. Right now, it is almost done, I still have some things in mind that I want to add to it, either with paper, or more color, but this will be the base.

Once again, sorry about the bad picture quality. The wall is actually white, not grey creme colored.

My techniques are quite simple, as I said, and I love using black ink/marker pens.

With that, we get this: white bass speakers.image

I usually do not paint, because I don’t like working with paintbrushes. So, the colors in my “paintings” are added with Paint (the software), which I use because it gives my drawings a simple cut-out look which I like.

The digital painting can be printed in canvas size. This one is called Ugly Jennifer’s Commute To Work (Daytime edition).

Jennifer is the one in the middle with the shoulder pads.

Hello!

This is my first post on this blog. I will be uploading some of my works here for the next 30 days. If you want to know more about me, I wrote a little something in the Featuring Artist section above.

I will be posting old and new stuff and show you what and how I do it.

I am a spontaneous artist, which means I don’t usually plan the content, technique or feel of my artwork.

Most of my stuff centers around human heads and faces, as I usually start by first drawing an eye or a nose.

You can find most of my older stuff on my tumblr ugry.tumblr.com, but  I’d like to show you one of them here today, mainly because it sets a nice color to the website.

More other stuff to come this weekend when I have more time.

Peace.

Well, here goes my last post. I want to thank The Tibetan Art Collective for this opportunity, and my best wishes to the next featuring artist. Looking forward to all the good stuff.

Doing doodles is one of the things I really like. You just keep your pen/pencil moving and make random shapes and patterns. There isn’t much of a thinking process involved and it’s a great way to kill time. Also, the finished work always has this breezy feel unlike paintings which tend to be more intense in my opinion.

All my previous works while I was on this project turned out to be abstract paintings. I wanted to do something more figurative next. Just few days back, I was looking at Buddhist symbols and motifs, and I got inspired to do this piece. I wanted to do a large piece incorporating doodle elements as well as some Buddhist symbols.

Here are some pictures of the piece in process.

Acrylics on 9 x 12 canvas

There is a concert happening next week in New York, featuring a Nepalese folk  instrumental ensemble, Kutumba, along with other opening artists. Anyway, I was asked to do this painting for the stage background. Given the short period of time and enormity of the painting, I asked one of my artist friend, Dawa, to work along with me.

We bought all the supplies yesterday and finally got started with the painting. We are more or less done with the under painting or the background. It should take us a day or two more to finish the painting. Also, the color scheme and the style of this painting is based on the last painting I posted here.

Although not a personal work, I thought I should share since I haven’t been able to work on anything else.
